The indian name of cashew, "acaiu"
means "reproducing nut". Native
to tropical America, it is commonly found
in the North and Northeast of Brazil. The
fleshy part( a pseudo-fruit formed by the
peduncle) is delicious in the form of drinks,
containing high levels of vitamin C. The
nut(this is actually the fruit) is an essential
ingredient in many typical dishes of the
Northeast region.
Uses
The pulp can be used in the preparation of
juice, ice cream, wine, liqueur or sweets.
